Watch the Videos

When Cody Hovland, a lifelong artist and inventor, decided to start a YouTube channel, he turned to me for help with design, editing, and writing. Our goal was to prioritize quality over quantity, giving the videos stories and keeping the audience engaged with narration, jokes, and visual comedy throughout. We’ve already seen success: in just one year we have a video with over 300,000 views, as well as millions of views on shorts/reels released on social media.

Why do a boring build breakdown when you can jump through a portal and swim around the build?
Ah, the art of crafting the perfect thumbnail. It's a surprisingly important part of a YouTube channel. Contrast, visibility, enticement, and some special sauce!

Stand-out video production

Making YouTube videos can be a lot of fun, but it's not an easy career path. Not only do Cody's builds have to stand out, but the video production has to match. You have to learn from, but not follow, the latest trends. You have to find and lean in to your own voice and style.

I've worked with Cody over the past year to create a streamlined video production structure: developing build ideas, outlining videos, writing scripts, organizing shot-lists, and working collaboratively with shared project files.

We wanted Cody to have a "reason" for what he was building, even if the reason was ludicrous. Stories improve viewer engagement and allow for more comedic bits.
